The Foundation Welcomes New Employees
Cristina Kinney – Program Assistant, Environment Program
Cristina was born in Barcelona and raised in Madrid, Spain. After graduating from law school at Universidad Cardenal Herrera in Madrid, she moved to Menlo Park, where she worked at a law office for several years. The focus of her work was a mix of civil litigation, some criminal cases, some federal cases, and human rights. Cristina then decided to change paths and become an event planner, her profession for seven years before joining the Foundation. She speaks six languages.
Paul Rosenberg – Associate Program Officer, Population
Paul works primarily on the international portfolio of the Population Program. Before joining the Foundation, he was an economics lecturer in Thailand, led community development projects in Cambodia, and worked as a consultant on the Earth Institute’s Millennium Cities Initiative in Louga, Senegal. Paul recently completed his Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University, specializing in development economics and international political development; he also holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Paul speaks both French and Thai.
Leanne Sedowski – Research Associate, Global Development Program
Leanne joins the Foundation with three years’ experience in trade and Africa issues. At the German Marshall Fund, she worked with the Agricultural Markets Program on issues such as the impact of U.S. farm policy on farmers in developing countries, the developmental impacts of the E.U.’s Economic Partnership Agreements, and the relationship in Africa between infrastructure and farmers’ incomes. Before this, Leanne worked in Geneva at the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development, where she set up its Programme on Clothing and Textiles. During the prior two years, she worked as a researcher at the School of Development Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa. Leanne holds an M.A. in development studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a B.A. in liberal arts from the University of Arizona.
Emily Warren – Fellow
“Em” joined the Foundation in December 2007 after working with Paul Brest and Hal Harvey on their forthcoming book Money Well-Spent: A Strategic Guide to Smart Philanthropy. She manages the Foundation’s trial initiative in nuclear nonproliferation and other special projects, and works closely with the Philanthropy and Population programs. Em graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors from Stanford University in 2008 with a B.A. in economics.
