Thank you for your interest in applying to the Hewlett Foundation Education Program. Grant making within the Education Program is divided into five priority areas that reflect strategically-developed approaches to help improve the quality and equality of education in the United States and throughout the world.
Letters of inquiry (LOI) typically are accepted at any time during the year in the areas of California K-12 Reform, California Community Colleges and Open Educational Resources (OER). We are not accepting unsolicited LOIs or proposals within the Improving Instruction or Opportunity areas.
We ask that all organizations interested in applying for a grant from the Foundation's Education Program carefully read the information available on the website. We highly recommend that grantseekers read the Education Program Strategic Plan and the Education Program Plans for 2002-2003, 2003-2004, 2004-2005, 2005-2006, 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 for further information on Foundation goals and grant priorities.
If after reviewing the recommended material you have remaining questions, please address them to education@hewlett.org.
Grants are awarded on the basis of merit, educational importance, relevance to program goals, and cost-effectiveness. Typically, proposals are peer reviewed.
