Making it easier to give is the goal of DonorEdge, a Kansas City–based Web site that serves as a clearinghouse for nonprofit organizations in the city’s greater metropolitan area.

A creation of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, the site is a model for how to make individual philanthropy easy and effective. It not only provides a wealth of information about individual nonprofits; it also enables donors to give right on the spot, via the Web site. The model already has been duplicated in Central Tennessee and Houston and deserves wider emulation.
