The Research and Planning Group
for California Community Colleges

The Research and Planning Group began as a membership association comprised of research, planning, and assessment professionals within the California community colleges. Since then, the RP Group and its research and planning organization, the Center for Student Success, have played a leadership role in building the research and assessment capacity of the California community colleges in order to improve student outcomes. With a grant from the Hewlett Foundation, the RP Group and its partners piloted the first Strengthening Student Success Conference, a highly successful statewide conference on student learning that has sold out two years in a row. RP has also played an important role in statewide initiatives such as the college system's strategic plan and the Basic Skills initiative. In addition to the Student Success Conference, the current grant supports the Hewlett Leaders in Student Success program to increase the visibility of colleges employing the most effective practices to improve student success for under-prepared students, in direct support of the Basic Skills Initiative.
