Basic Education Coalition

The Basic Education Coalition's mission is to raise public and private support for quality basic education as a key element in economic development and human well-being.

The eighteen members of the Coalition see basic education as a fundamental investment in reducing poverty and improving social well-being. Basic education facilitates a range of development goals, including supporting broad-based economic growth, improving health and nutrition, reducing child labor, lowering the rate of population growth, and supporting civil society, democracy, and political stability.

The objectives of the Coalition are to enhance awareness and knowledge of the fundamental importance of basic education and to increase resources and commitment to quality education.

For additional information about the Basic Education Coalition, please see the Coalition's Web site at http://www.basiced.org/.
