Catherine Casserly
Catherine M. Casserly
Program Officer, Education
Catherine M. Casserly is a Program Officer with the Education Program at The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, responsible for the Open Educational Resources Initiative. The Foundation’s investments in this emerging field harness the power of the web to create new models of knowledge sharing. Catherine manages the portfolio of Open Educational Resources grants and works to raise global awareness and coherence in the field across participants, projects and sectors. Catherine has a Ph.D. in the Economics of Education from Stanford University and a B.A. in Mathematics from Boston College. Prior to joining the Hewlett Foundation, Catherine was the Program Officer for Evaluation for the Walter S. Johnson Foundation and worked as a Policy Analyst for SRI International. After college, Catherine taught mathematics in Kingston, Jamaica and tutored in a high security prison. She served as a Trustee for the San Mateo County Board of Education from 1997 – 2000. When not working, Catherine enjoys running, reading and beaching.
