Lawrence Mendenhall
General Counsel

Lawrence serves at the Hewlett Foundation as general counsel. Before joining the Hewlett Foundation, Lawrence was deputy director of legal affairs at The Pew Charitable Trusts, where he helped to launch Pew's legal department and spearhead the organization's transition from private foundation to public charity status. He started his career at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton, an international law firm in New York, where he counseled high net worth individuals, private foundations and public charities. Lawrence holds a law degree from New York University School of Law, an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
