Mexico Consulting Program Officer, Environment Program
Alejandro Villegas-López serves as a consulting program officer for the Foundation’s Environment Program in Mexico. In this position, he coordinates grantmaking strategies to support sustainable transportation and reduce transportation-related air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in Mexico. He also holds a faculty professorship at the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico City.
Prior to joining the Foundation in 2003, he was a visiting scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in its Program on Urban, Regional and Global Air Pollution. From 1995 to 2000, he was the general director for transportation planning at the Transportation Secretary of the Mexico City government.
Villegas-López received a bachelor’s degree in transportation engineering from the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico and a master’s degree in public administration from George Washington University.
