Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung

For Support To Strengthen Youth Advocacy Leadership In East Africa

Overview
This grant to Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung (DSW) will enhance the Strengthening Local Advocacy Leadership in East Africa project, which supports youth-led civil society organizations in Kenya and Tanzania to implement coordinated advocacy on family planning and reproductive health. This funding allows DSW to extend the project, increase the amount of subgrant awards to youth-led organizations, and substantially expand its tailored capacity development and shared learning activities. Additionally, DSW will increase youth advocates’ visibility in global convenings, and ensure they receive professional mentoring to share insights and lessons from their locally driven advocacy strategies.

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
This core grant to Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung (DSW) would support the organization to ensure that the most vulnerable populations in developing countries have access to high-quality sexual and reproductive health information and services. DSW’s advocacy strategies include strengthening the evidence base for prioritizing sexual and reproductive health and rights, influencing political and social leaders, and building capacity of partner organizations. DSW has traditionally targeted the German government and the European Union with its advocacy, but intends to strengthen the advocacy capacity of its country offices in East Africa. A separate grant on this docket recommends direct support to these country offices.
