Northern California Grantmakers

This renewal grant will support the second phase of a project called "The Real Cost of Great Outcomes." This is a collaborative effort led by Northern California Grantmakers, together with Southern California Grantmakers and San Diego Grantmakers. Nearly half of California nonprofits report that foundations rarely or never cover the full cost of programs they support (Nonprofit Finance Fund, 2014). Further, demand for nonprofit services continues to increase, as government resources shrink. Consequently, many nonprofits’ abilities to achieve results are limited by financial instability and weak organizational capacity. This project aims to increase grantmaker awareness about the importance of full-cost funding, and build grantmaker skills to actually make changes to their funding practices.
