What will it take to make Congress more effective?

Launched in 2014, the Hewlett Foundation’s Madison Initiative focuses on strengthening democracy and its institutions – Congress, in particular – to be more effective in a polarized age.

The initiative is nonpartisan in approach and supports grantees across the ideological spectrum – think tanks, advocacy groups, academic researchers and civic leadership organizations  – who seek to understand and improve the political system so that our elected representatives are better equipped to solve society’s greatest problems.

Watch the video to hear from a few of our grantees that are working to find ways to make Congress itself more effective, including the Congressional Management Foundation, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, the Lugar Center, and the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies.
