Flora Zhang is the first Digital Editor at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. With nearly a decade of experience as an online journalist in print and broadcast organizations, she has covered a wide range of domestic and international news topics.
Previously, she was an opinion editor and producer for CNN. She has edited thousands of op-eds and worked with high-profile elected officials, advocates, Nobel laureates and other thought leaders to impact public opinion. She led the strategy around social media and search engine optimization for opinion content, and helped create multimedia and data visualizations. She wrote for CNN.com about innovation, education, technology and the arts.
Flora began her journalism career at The New York Times, where she produced stories on the foreign and opinion desks, interviewed experts and blogged for the website, created interactive features, and spearheaded digital strategy and community engagement for Room for Debate.
Before working in media, Flora was a producer and project manager at the Asia Society, and an erstwhile artist. She has a bachelor’s degree in visual and environmental studies from Harvard University.
