Sara Davis is Director of the Grants Management department at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring that grantmaking operations, practices, and data support the mission and strategic goals of the foundation. Her team focuses on advancing both efficiency and quality within our operations and practices for grantmaking.
Sara has over 20 years of experience working in and alongside the nonprofit sector in a variety of roles. Before joining the Hewlett Foundation, she worked at the Adobe Foundation, where she managed foundation finance, operations, and their global grants programs. Her previous experiences include work with Creativity Explored, Kaiser Permanente and the Napa Valley Vintners Association.
Sara currently serves on the Boards of Directors for both the Northern California Grantmakers Association and the Grants Managers Network. In 2013, she started the Grants Managers Directors Circle, bringing together leaders from the largest U.S. foundations to share best practices and improve grantmaking operations collectively. She remains a leader within this now active group and speaks and writes regularly within the philanthropic sector regarding grantmaking practices, data, operations and roles. Sara holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania.
